I started this blog to keep myself writing. I figured that, if I had to keep ‘the world’ (or at least my faithful friends who are reading this) updated on how the second draft of my novel is going or if I’ve sent that paranormal romance novella to the editor yet, I would actually have to do it. Nothing stops procrastination in its tracks like having to face an audience.
Then I thought, how many people say to themselves, at one point or another, “I’d like to write a book someday!”? How many actually start writing? How many start, but have no idea how to finish (not to mention publish!)? This blog is intended to be a support to all of us engaged in the glorious and cantankerous process of creative endeavor, no matter what stage we’re at.
In this blog I’ll be sharing whatever I’ve learned about writing thus far, in hopes that someone out there will find it helpful. And wherever I use the word “writing” in this blog, please feel free to substitute your own art form / project / passion / endeavor.
As I prepare to click “post”, with the accompanying feelings of excitement and terror, I think on the words of Elizabeth Gilbert in a recent TED talk: “all writers think they suck.”
To keep writing, in the face of such thoughts, is what this blog is about.
Please ‘comment’! Share your thoughts/ideas and what you’ve been up to creatively. People sometimes view art as being competitive; personally, I believe artists are here to support each other. May this blog nudge you in the direction of your dreams. And please, nudge back!
